I hear in the UK some have 3 mths notice so that + the 60d to "find another role" (if you also have this in the UK) + whatever else you get you may be on 6 months +?

Have colleagues in the UK been actually notified yet or are you all still holding your breath? That must not be fun at all. Really sorry, this s—s.

I'm curious... what were the packages been offered during the previous round? Contractually, its statutory + notice period which typically doesn't equate to much. Just curious

Agreed. Very little information regarding the plan in the UK. Still don't know of individual employees have been notified or if it's still a general statement to everyone?

This sounds like no one knows anything.

Part of the process in the UK is to have individual 1:1 meetings with employees, so that is normal.

Agree that from the original poster it is not clear if specific employees have been notified or if it is simply a general and vague announcement to the entire office. Hard to say more without clarification on this.

I guess what’s not clear to me is if they have told specific people (even verbally) that they are at risk of redundancy or if they have simply said to the whole U.K. office (without targeting any specific individual at this stage) that they will look at launching a redundancy process. Unless you work in a specific team and the whole team is being targeted? But they have to be specific ie some know they are at risk and some know they are not.

Without knowing this it’s hard to know if approx 20 specific names or more have been made at risk and if the process has actually started which would help you work out timelines.

Also what is the 15d 1:1 hr meeting you mentioned? What’s the purpose of that meeting?

You are correct to think that in general this is a tick box exercise, the company’s intention is to reduce headcount but they have to follow a specific process first.

I’m in a the UK.

HR told us verbally, saying we are at risk and to wait for another call about the collective group call. No further details were given and judging by the tone of voice there is no guarantee they will avoid redundancy. Especially when they say that they will help us if we choose to apply for roles!

Ok so I assume you’re in the U.K.? In which case U.K. law applies.

Have they sent notice to specific individuals advising them that they are at risk of redundancy? And if yes do you think more than 20 people have been notified they are a risk? And was that via email or verbally?

If this is the case then I suppose this is why you are in the process for a collective (20 or more redundant employees) redundancy. I’m not a lawyer so do your research but I think that means someone will negotiate and see if these redundancies can be avoided and no one can be let go less than 30 days after these discussions start. It’s reasonable to think these redundancies will actually take place, it’s just Part of the process).

Your allowance is legally your notice period and if you’ve worked more than 2y there you get by law 1w per year of employment although usually firms in the U.K. give more (1m per year workedIs standard) but this is discretionary.
