These are the questions snr management should have asked but didn’t. Why? Because they didn’t have knowledge of those businesses. They left it to line management to sort it out but if they didn’t care much or were inexperienced then things go downhill fast. That’s what happens with the one baker concept - people are in jobs they know nothing about. This is one big reason for the mess we’re in but nothing will change becuz no one wants to stick his head out the sand. Why? Because it means having to take responsibility and take care of the problem.

What stoneywood didn’t understand was you dont put someone in bit sales becuz he’s your buddy. You need someone who knows the business and what the client needs. To just copy and paste a previous sale which anyone can do in 5 mins is rubbish. No wonder the company now trying to sell HTC when it used to be a flagship service. Ruined by bad management in aberdeen

The hole optimisation and copilot debacle was a scandalous mismanaged affair by persons well out of depth. That sorry group in Aberdeen wasted millions and millions of $ screwing up well after well for clients. No wonder copilot ended up in the junk yard.

aberdeen mngmnt was hopeless an out of their depth. They screwed up the drilling contracts incl BP. They screwed up copilot with poor training. Bits and under reamers ended up closing Celle and Ireland manufacturing plants because lack of work. And couldn’t get remote ops up and running after 5-10 yrs of meetings. Norway have been running this successfully for > 10-15 yrs

I wholeheartedly agree, That optomisation group in Aberdeen did more damage than good. Sending those id–ts to jobs worldwide was a complete cluster f++k of epic proportions. Wrong people doing a critical job ineptly.

Most of those "deluded mudloggers" belonged to a optimisation group in Aberdeen. They were a complete load of useless tossers.

I only met one Copilot engineer who knew how to run the tool properly for the client, and he was a consultant. Most were middle aged deluded ex mudloggers who knew bugger all about directional drilling and the other LWD tools in the BHA.

Hopefully Baker Hughes legal department is looking very closely to see how much Baker technology, both hardware and software, 'contributed' to the development of I-Cruise.

Copilot is a great tool. Problem was the people they put in charge to sell it weren’t great. They didn’t know how to sell it. But hey, may as well talk to a brick wall in this company.

Sure it saves operational costs, but the customer also expects the savings to be passed on to them and pressure surmounted when competitors are also doing the same. The industry will never be the same again.

In a nutshell, and always remember this, the company will need less and less personnel in the coming years so it’s critical that you gain new skills to stay relevant and transition to another industry if you can.

And how does it save a dying company. I do not care if it walks on water, if there is no one to support it
