Thread regarding General Atomics layoffs

Arrogance!

I am a ten year employee of GA. We've had it good for a long time, which has led to a general feeling company wide that it will always be this way because we are the greatest. Arrogance at this company abounds. I have seen A lot of waste and mismanagement over the years. People are promoted based on popularity not their skills. GA has struggled with outdated technology and tools, and has tried to catch up, but the old boys club culture doesn't really allow it it because it hates change. Sadly, this has been a long time coming.

The life cycle of any weapon program is easily foreseen if you keep an eye on the speed of the cost of the product rises. For GA, it’s from a few million to over 30 million.... And there is no problem to keep on producing it. As it was said long before: in the end, the Air-force and the Navy could only afford to share one plane.

Agreed. I was one of the 6% last week. This company is way too heavy in management and does not recognize hard word, and dedicated employees. I would’ve done great things within this company, but the bureaucracies, favoritism, and normalcy of being silent, trumps all. It’s sad.

i totally agree, i was part of a different department and this Good-O-Boy culture was well entrenched. we had way too many supervisors and two deputy directors. i overheard a fellow employee talk about layoffs back in June and he told me it was based on performance but that is a heap of excrement there was many employees that were great at the job, extremely hard workers they got let go to persevere the culture and give their friends a chance to stay.

I would agree. Our best analyst was let go. Not bc he was bad but because he was better than our boss.
