Thread regarding Emerson Electric Co. layoffs

More Acquisitions, More "Right-Sizing"

Yet another week of presentations about "cost-saving actions" - and yet another week where Emerson announces another acquisition. Maybe the next "cost-saving action" can be to stop buying other businesses when you can't prevent the ones you have from circling the drain??

This is in reaction to Schneider buying the real OSIsoft. However, as usual, Emerson buys second or third tier companies.

This will come back to haunt them. Paid too much for a small company.

Emerson said it is accretive but Moody said it is not accretive. 10x sales is a huge price to pay. It won’t be accretive for many years if it ever will be.

More importantly is what they do with Ovation now that OSI also has similar product called monarch. Also what do they do with Zedi which they just acquired, cloud SCADA and OSI also has cloud SCADA.

$1.6b for a $160m sales company. That’s a hefty premium. Don’t know how they can be accretive.

If they don’t buy, they cannot grow the revenue organically. Buying companies and milking them is the only option.

They claims $1 billion software division. That’s laughable. Maybe they include DCS but even then there is no $1 billion.
