Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

VSP takers & non-takers - were you surprised?

As the information trickles in, a few surprises in who could have taken vsp but did not (for example, some old timers who could retire but are not going to yet). I guess they want to be "reshaped" instead?

On the other hand, a few early to mid career people are departing too. It feels this whole death of oil story is getting to some people quite a bit.

I am chugging alone, but fairly demotivated, given that I am in the hated white male cohort that now needs to make room for all kind of d&i. The competence requirement is now dead last, sigh ...

I’ve been hoping for a package, but they are not offering to offshore hourly personnel. Shell did allow thirteen offshore staff personnel to apply for a severance, but Shell would only let three accept a severance.

Anyone they could retire and didn't With a severance is a fool. They gave me 2.6 years salary and full pension. Have to be an id–t to stay especially in such a c-appy environment
