Does anyone know when/if we are going to return to work? Honestly, I am worried they will make us go back with cases going down.

y'all must be yes men middle managers commenting below! Exactly why OXY is such a joke of a company, just look at the stock right now compared to so many tech companies....LOL!
There will be no lawsuits for sure. All you have to do is quit and in Texas that is that. Plus, Congress is in the process of passing a bill where companies would not be liable for things like this. I am sure Oxy will do all they can to keep things clean and practice social distancing, but in the end they owe you nothing if you don't show up to work. The same will happen when schools open and parents don't send their kids back. The school will just not pass them.
Considering we are at nearly zero additional risk of catching COVID or dying from it at the office (and we’re at nearly zero risk regardless), there’s no reason we shouldn’t go back now. You took the job knowing it was in person, stop trying to use COVID as an excuse to stay home. We need to get back to work.
There will be no lawsuits because you will have a choice. Choices are to go back to work physically and sign your rights away or quit. At some point you could work from home but not on the company work. There is yard work, pool maintenance, cleaning the garage, etc.
I think it would be unwise for oxy to ask employees to return to work before 2021. With schools opening cases are already going back up. Oxy shouldn’t risk the liability of a lawsuit when someone could get sick with Covid. They have enough problems with their mountain of debt as is.
We already have a date as of Oct 1st, but that could change. In the end I am pretty sure we are going to have to go back because a lot of companies already are back. There will probably be a few days on and off, and I bet we get moved to an A/B schedule, so at least half the office is there all the time. I just hope they phase is in based on age, people who have health issues, and those with kids. If you have kids and no school it will be tough. I was talking to a couple of moms today, and they said the home school was terrible with a lot of technical issues. Kids in my area are always out playing, swimming, etc. You would think that they could have school, but the moms I talked to said the teachers don't want to come back, so that is a whole other story. At least I have built up vacation to use if I don't want to come back to soon.
