Not to be insensitive but from these posts today it seems like around 30 people were let go. Hardly a blood bath in a company of 300+k. Are people underreporting or was this warning overblown.

As a baby boomer, don't appreciate the comments about boomers and other elderly folks. We believed what the company said, and believed in the corporation. They seemed to really care about us. They held meetings and conferences and town halls about what was going on and how much we could grow as a village. As employeee alumnae we were told we were all valued and respected. Maybe that can pay for our health care and food.
Where are they all know? All the corporate lackeys, dedication, the corporate "love", the sing alongs, the puzzles, the bbqs with the bossman, pom pom waving, dancing, boomers screaming the company's mission statements? Where are they now? Exactly.
we had sevl go. some had decades of experience. They were told personal items would be mailed to their apartments/houses. That's how much they "care" about you. They dont. It's the US. It was Never a country. Simply, a business opportunity to get that money at any cost. Vile empire.
what happened to all the boomer singing, dancing, screaming corporate mission statements, etc.? What happened? Dumvita, healthcare partner, etc... Gonzo. Like dandelion spores they're gone. More of nothing. corporate usa. corporate simps. ya played yourselves
Using other documentation methods like an excel spreadsheet or PowerPoint seems to be a recurring theme. This was done to my entire team and we got rated monthly. None of it matters when I got laid off I had glowing reviews until of course the last month, which was conveniently forgotten to be done. When I brought this document to HR they said it didn’t matter only what is in MAP! It’s all smoke and mirrors and after reading that others have these documents outside of MAP I call BS! If your department uses these documents be careful.
I was almost going to interview at Optum. Glad I passed.
Specialty pharmacists from Nevada, Kansas and Carlsbad
Specialty pharmacists from which locations? What they really need to get rid of is some of the managers.
26 specialty pharmacists were let go Thurs
Just because it hasn't been posted here doesn't mean a larger layoff has not occurred. The way HR has talked about redeployment the layoff for Aug Sept is sizable. Not 40 people.
What is Customer Office? What do they do?
My whole department was disbanded. Not all of us were laid off but the "reassignments" were not all favorable. If you were "reassigned" and didn't want that job–it's a voluntary quit. No severance. No unemployment. Lose-lose situation. There were 10 of us.
All it takes for a layoff to go from "overblown" to "a really big deal" is for it to affect you directly. I rarely cared about layoffs until it hit my department in December and me personally in February. Now I feel bad for not paying more attention earlier.
More than 30 were laid off. Many hundreds, if not in the thousands, were laid off. Sad, because the wrong people were let go.
A colleague went to a re-org meeting today to learn about changes on some other teams. I immediately came over to this site to see if there are more to come
I had a mid-year review that was an excel spreadsheet. None of my goals ever made it into MAP. I was held responsible for too many of the entire team's goals and things that were out of my control. I excelled in one of the items and my manager wouldn't give me credit for it. I didn't even get the goals until a couple of weeks before the review. Thankfully, I saw that the Customer Office was providing no value and teammates were doing nothing all day. I was able to get another job in the company on a team that provides a lot of value.
Desperate Employee is 100% on the mark. Bad leadership at Optum. Too many people are in roles they don't deserve, or know how to do. We're supposed to be an Agile organization, yet there's way too much 'waterfall' approach happening where managers are literally saying: "I prefer to just throw something over the wall and see what kind of a response I get." I've heard of managers in the Customer Office who send EMAILED peer reviews instead of using MAP/Colleague Reviews. The same managers doing that, also sent out an email 'survey' which was a "what do you like about me?
What do you dislike about me?" survey! Another person told me that midyear reviews were mandatory, and the managers gave the reviews back to the team in powerpoint via email, and then later gave them the MAP version. OH, and at their end of year review, they got their reward and pay increase information in powerpoint before they got to see it in MAP. This place is being run by incompentents who don't even understand the business of the teams they 'manage.' All they really know how to do is bark orders and say things like thanks for the feedback, but remember we have a new model we need to follow. Optum needs a major overhaul, so I sort of agree with the layoffs, but they're laying off the wrong people! Fire the stupid selfish clueless lying managers who contradict their own policies.
I was told that at least 100 people were laid off at Optum today. And insensitive, you are being insensitive. These layoffs have been happening across the whole enterprise for well over 18 months at hundreds and as many as 3,000 layoffs in one month. Those of us working within the organization know that once they start it has a steamroller effect...and you have no warning. Also, from my understanding this has almost entirely effect US operations.
Tried company needs to do a company wide audit and get rid of bad managers. Some of these managers have multiple personalities. To their team its tyrannical leadership methods and when upper management comes around they act as the most happy understanding people. UHC. If you read these boards which you should, please audit all managers and identify the horrible ones. Don't let them know your watching them and you will see the their true nature......These horrible managers are the ones ruining UHC, not the employees. Please do at least this. We need truly good managers.
It was definitely more than 30. The layoffs were deep & wide this time around. Including grade levels lower than 29.
I heard it was 15% across shared services (marketing, customer office, tech). And targeting 29+. I am one.
Yea I’m a pharmacist and there was about 20 people on that call from different departments. All pharmacists
Not everyone knows about this site. I’ve shared with lots of people that had no clue it existed.
