Your jobs are being posted and filtered by a 3rd party company. They are the ones who truly control the hiring of most positions now, not SEAS.
Ok being a Florida native how do we jump on borad and get a union representation.
Unfortunately it is not an illegal practice. It may be distasteful practice but it is not illegal. There is no guarantee of continued employment while earning a paycheck (active) or while out on furlough. Plus, SW has a team of high priced lawyers working for them. So of course this was given the ok sign.
Unfair does not equal illegal
I would think hiring new people for our jobs while furloughed goes against labor laws.

How? We need assistance. I personally do not know where to begin.
Yes, we are an employee "at will" state. They can fire us for no reason. But. I am talking about a lawyer for our unethical and illegal treatment. they took away our vacation we earned. They won't even let us interview for positions we are qualified for. Total discrimination!
what is an attorney going to do? SW is a not doing anything illegal. WE are at-will employees at SW. We have no employment contract.
Instead of worrying about legal representation. Secure union representation. Furloughed employees are considered employees and can join a union. All active and furlough employees need to jump on this NOW.
Sitting by your phone waiting for SW to call accomplishes nothing. Getting organized, getting signatures, protecting yourself is how to move forward.
