Complete troll, there was no announcement in Evendale for more work. And Schenectady is laying off soon. As they are shipping work to Poland.

I'm in Greenville and we didn't get any news like that? I think you're trolling.

Every shop in the supply chain is slow right now, I think Wilmington will be fine, I’m worried about us in West Jefferson, we aren’t big enough to absorb Wilmington’s work and our community lacks the skilled workers to hire if the work was to come here.

I have heard the same at Evendale. It will be at all levels. Time to trim the fat. We all know there is little work in all areas. How much more can you continue to s— out of a empty bucket? It’s sad some good people with be lost in the mix. But, that’s business. It’s the only way the name of the company will make it thru this. Otherwise, GE is on the verge of getting purchased. The stocks are the lowest levels yet. The d—beats and mis-management dragged the company down for many years.
Time for a reset. They just cleaned house in the HR department.

The buyouts aren’t site specific. The 60 and 10 years of service package was offered at all locations affected by the layoffs. A 55 and 25 deal is very rare and a company facing this find a struggles right now can’t afford to offer one.

Looks like the writing is on the wall for the Wilmington site...my opinion is its closing. Shift our work to the lower paying NC sites and shift their roughing work to the new Mexico plant. The buyouts don't seem aggressive enough for a plant planning for a future. Sad.

My boss told me that decisions are done for the next restructuring phase. She says there are power struggles at the top. Meaning some of the good leaders will probably not make it through the reorg.
The first wave of announcements supposed to be this week. Guess EB folks have a contract like the Union folks and can't just be shown the door like us workers. In a reorg, they apparently can be eliminated. Then they get reseeded from the top-down type approach.
Check your state warn notices if you enjoy digging deeper into what the company sends to the government.

Wilmington leadership is clueless. No vision, no plan. GE Wilmington exempt are doing like they have always done, heads in the sand acting like a bunch of entitled kids. They only care about themselves and those in their “fraternity”, if the hourly were smart, years ago they should have brought in a union to represent them. There is no employee handbook and they change the rules daily.

Wilmington wouldn’t be hurting so badly if Boeing had their sh– together. When leap starts flying again work will come back, but it will take a while to see the influx of work do to the extra inventory sitting around. Willing to bet Wilmington’s first round of lay-offs had nothing to do with COVID and everything to do with Boeing.

The business is shifting work from some sites to other sites for now. I don't see how this will carry everyone thru the crisis. But we'll see. Fourth quarter 2020 or 1st quarter 2021 we will know more when the dust has settled. All options are being looked at I'm sure. I would guess more layoffs and retirement packages next quarter at least, if I had to place a bet.
