More layoffs at GE Evendale?

Sorry to hear all the bad news about GE 273 layoffs, I hope the best for everyone. I am a hourly maintenance worker out of GE Evendale and the talk of more layoffs here are beginning to increase. I am staying hopeful that it is just the rumor mill. Honestly we are busy because we are so short handed after losing 30% of our maintenance. I do not see how see this place will be able to stay open if they cut anymore positions . If anyone knows of more cuts coming this way or if it is just the rumor mill maybe make a comment if you do not mind . Thank you and Good luck out there everybody

@@-1oqz+16Cnw46X- Well the original agreement was from the time of piece work time. Then the company wanted to go to hourly so the union and company came up with an agreement for an hourly wage That wage had to equal close to piece work hence the beginning of the d rate at so much production. That was the agreement and the honest days work/ line goal/ line expectation. Years pass and T’s got scammed into the mix now here we are today. Some snot nose t rate wants people to work more on 40 hrs for less way less money and no pension just to get laid off. Not the brightest baby t in this mix but must not want to go to their old $13 hr job. They would loose their nice cars, their houses I bet. Well anyways enjoy that history and the agreements the onion gave back to the company. Like this A,B,C job code sounds like something out of a child’s book. The next child’s book will be 1,2,3 baby T’s out the door, 5,6,7 to the unemployment line and so on.

We were supposed to do more work during our scheduled 40 hours every week, not drag our feet and get it done during OT. It's actually called Unworking yourself out of a job. This place needs new ideas but you can't implement them into a place like Schenectady because it's saturated with too much old thinking.

Do more work so GE will bring more work to 273 our union says to us. Or work our selfs out of our jobs. There No work in the market for this outdated sc-ap metal we make. No Demand No Work period.

Get packing and dust off your resume like our operations leaders are saying here at 273. Culp is the restructuring king.
