Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Black Friday

Wal-Mart is going to copy Sams for Black Friday. Sam’s has always been closed on Thanksgiving, there Black Friday is always 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and that’s why you don’t see a massive ad for Sams on Black Friday. Once all these other business announce there Black Friday add you will see Wal-Mart put out a add a week or 2 before Thanksgiving. For all you saying no that’s not going to happen go research Sam’s Club for the last few years and see if they did not do a one day event 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. Sam’s was smart and holds there Black Friday before every one else and Wal-Mart will follow in there foot steps.

Sam's always had black Friday on black Friday until a couple years ago. I know. I worked it for over 20 years. The management and assistants started their bs with long time associates about 2 years ago...attacking us at every opportunity. Carma is a bit** . Thank God and this virus for helping me see my ways and get the he** out on my terms!
There are better jobs out there...how could it possibly be worse.

Not enough product being made. Plus major delays in overseas shipping as well.

Honestly, I think Corporate knew no one (customers) was going to show up for this – just too dangerous. Also, the majority of the employees would have opted to call out that day – also way too dangerous for them. So from a PR standpoint – make it look like compassion for the employees – but in reality, it was doomed to be a big flop.

I'm sure Walmart will create a program to make people‘s lives miserable during that time. They will probably go back to having it on Friday. Nothing is permanent with that company.

Or it could be that WM is trying to appeal to heartland and family values by closing on a major holiday, or that they're furthering their attempts to reduce COVID exposure (and there's no greater exposure to funky contagions people bring than an open house on Black Friday).... It's an interesting subject, because only WM knows.
