Can anyone of you guys who left, or were layed off from GE Aviation this year be willing to let me know what kinda job you found elsewhere? Just found out today I'm getting layed off. Just curious, and wanted some ideas. Thanks
Glad you got out and found something better. I’m stuck in Vandalia at the moment but will hopefully be out of GE in a couple of months. The management is beyond incompetent but act like they are splitting atoms. The id–ts I work with spent thousands of dollars on stupid murals instead of fixing drive stands that have been broken for years. GE is not the company it once was.
Don't look back my friend! The $$$$ may be exactly the same but the stress relief of a "layoff" handing over your head isn't with it. Good for you!!
Congrats that you found another job. With the current GE bad leadership and management, they laid off people without knowing that the position is vital in order to cut cost and to make it look like they're saving money. I remembered back then they're cutting cost by removing snacks in the office, that, to me is a red flag. Glad I made the decision and leave GE Aviation a while ago, and being stable with the current job going through the crisis. When their business is great, they give you all the goodies, but when there's a dip in profit, they start looking for things to cut cost and layoff people. Sometimes I feel like they have so many management tiers, like you have to go through 3 management layers to expense a toilet paper roll. Good luck with everyone in the future.
Thousands of good employees were told to hit the streets in the past few months. Probably thousands more shortly. It's sad that GE has virtually cornered the market on Jet engines and can't make enough money to take care of a few thousand employees until people start flying again. I have seen tens of billions of dollars over the years spent on stock buybacks to prop up top executive pay, but none saved for the poor workers who made the huge profits for them in the past. Only a layoff notice.
The culture is what is k–ling GE and Aviation. I'm a 30 year machinist and the young managers and engineers treat the hourly vert poorly.
Great to hear! Live your life. Never look back.
GE Aviation Leadership in Piedmont South Carolina were arrogant and manipulative to all employees.. I would never work at this company or site again
please explain, more money, benefits, what made the job so terrible
Good luck
