So it seems the purchase of the old HBO Operations Center on Long Island is happening. Showtime, MTV Networks/Viacom as well as CBS will be heading there to be under one roof. Wonder if they will put other positions there to save $ on NYC rent and salaries. Plus it will avoid all those people scared to take public transportation. Jobs will be lost.

Fully expect Viacom to make a stupid decision. It is their stock and trade.
so will more CBS techs lose there jobs ?
just FYI, as suspected, the HBO center on LI is under way as far as build out for viacom/cbs needs. so that is no longer rumor. it is a fact now.
there was an earlier thread in regards to this, I was telling folks that it was happening. people did not see it happening. the idea I was told about was keeping existing NOC as data center is located there now for a while at this point, keeping some staff at that facility. then migrate everything over to old HBO facility, which is literally around corner from existing NOC. Before HBO merger , they dumped a ton of money in upgrades to that facility, was kinda shocked at time they shuttered it as they had just spent so much money with expansion upgrades. showtime operations were/are being run out of leased space in same office/industrial complex as HBO and Viacom NOC. that will be integrated back into Viacom facility soon enough, data migration is already going on from what i know. Eventually, this stuff is going to take time, idea is to migrate some of,if not all, who know on this one, CBS broadcasting into the HBO facility. I would assume, that's a dangerous thing to do these days, assuming that is, that not ALL operations would move there. studios and production offices would be housed at other Viacom/CBS owned properties in nyc. with that said, I doubt many would be in position to head to the long island, its not an easy commute there via public transport. or if you live in other metro suburbs besides LI, its a long haul. good luck to all those whose jobs would transition to that facility or they simply eliminate some of the positions. for what its worth, there has been talk of this ever since HBO vacated and pre Viacom/cbs merger was just playing out, not even official merger yet. again, good luck to you all.
that is what is key to selling the broadcast center and firing almost all broadcast center personnell
