How do you lose $10 billion?!

How? Just how? I've seen this figure mentioned several times. Sears/Kmart had maybe a few hundred thousand employees at most? Has there been any city or country with around that many people that's lost that much money? Forget companies, isn't it the worst run anything ever?

At its height - the sprawling empire that was Sears/Kmart had 340k employees....10-12k at HE (600 when I left). ...bad management in the 1980's....followed by slowing retail sales..Amazon...blah blah blah then worse....and then finally EDDIE!!!!! That's how you do that!.
