Ricoh leadership keeps trying to cut its way to profitability. This hasn't worked before and it will certainly not work now. But that doesn't mean they won't keep trying. Maybe if we laid off the entire upper management and actually brought in some people who know what they're doing, we wouldn't have to go back to the same failing strategy over and over again.

Next week the furloughs end and how long before Ricoh needs to lay-off more people? There might be a slight uptick in calls, but I wonder if enough to keep the techs on the payroll. Just not enough calls to keep everyone busy.
Got the dreaded meeting invite titled "Field service update" supposedly mandatory call...6 of us regular employees with our Manager's boss...area director...like cattle lined up at the slaughter house....with HR representative via conference call explaining layoff process....that was one week ago....manager has not even bothered to talk to any of us regarding layoff...and today he mandates us all 24 team members to punch out 90 minutes before 5 .... oddly weird....
Companies just don't care. They don't look at things months/years at a time. It's all the dollar and how fast the shareholders get their cash. In the future, these companies will be spending thousands per employee to get new employees up to the level of those leaving.
I agree that Ricoh is/was too bloated. Just such a shame that all the money that was spent on training and certs. Ricoh won't get to benefit from them. So now new companies will reap the benefits from all the training. Of course, this is true with so many companies. Glad I'm leaving.
This company is/was way too bloated. If you ever saw the Vsip agreement you would know what I'm referring to. There were several pages of job descriptions that were listed in the agreement. Also, I laughed out loud when our CEO stated a couple of years ago that " now we must focus on making a profit".
