When can we expect the next "reorganization" or as it is better know as, mass layoff?

Does anyone know anymore about the planned layoffs...the waiting is not pleasant. Could we hear something this month?

From the SVS exercise, 1500 approved equated to $500 million annual savings. This equates to 0.3Million dollars per employee.
Current projected Opex savings are expected to be 3.5 Billion per annum by beginning of 2021.
Capex spending in 2020 currently expecting 20 billion , which is a 5 billion drop and will not go above this based on forecast commodity prices.
The Q2 results stated an expected improvement in 2021 of 14 % on 2020 commodity prices.
For 2021 results to even resemble 2019(which wasn’t a great year) then will need a further 9.6 billion savings per annum, Capex currently projected would be sustained of 5 below plan. This leaves 4.6 billion opex. If this all from further staff reductions based on a SVS figures then this would equate to 13800 more job cuts. for reshape.

A lot of good information about the US and elsewhere. Any news on job cuts for Shell expats in West Africa?

This reorganization is taking too long. It’s near impossible to stay motivated to do a great job when you might be fired in 3-4 months, while EC is taking their time to announce the new organization
What do you do to balance doing the best you can at your job AND keeping your mental health with all what’s going on in the world AND preparing yourself in case you are fired?

Shell is so chicken sh@@. They don’t have the nerve to look you in the eye and say, “thanks for you time but that’s it. “. Instead they go through this farce and make everyone apply for their jobs, all under the ‘vail’ of transparency, what a joke. Just grow a pair and rip the bandaid off, I’d respect you more
for it.

Heard from reliable sources:- 1. No mapping for anyone except EVP level. Still uncertain whether that means Everyone will have to reapply or not.

  1. Org chart down to jg2 level published by end of this year 2020..
  2. Fun begins in Jan 2021. Everyone will know their future by Q1 end 2021.
  3. This big reorg will be followed by smaller re-orgs later in 2021 and these things will become kind of permanent feature year after year.

They've already publicly stated this is going to happen in Q3/Q4 with finalization set by end of Q1 2021. Read the Hub. Some of you guys live under a rock.

No way they could achieve anything in 2020 with Oct 1st announcement! It's only 2 working months left in 2020, given holidays.

The earliest is end of Jan, or Feb 2021. But with all the horse trading in the background, Q2 2021 is most likely.

more likely to see Oct 1 announcement of reorg and package option with staffing completed before year end. Shell is not going to go into next year with costs and morale hanging over it.

my assessment
early Q1 2021: announcement
mid to late Q1 2021: plan outlined
mid Q2 2021: the fun begins
end of Q2 to early Q3 2012: layoffs
late Q3 to early Q4: dust settles, welcome to the new organization
2022: new ways of working

No matter how many people they cut, there always seem to be plenty of remaining useful id–ts around during the next reorg to steal a chair from

You can only survive the next reorg if your are a top a– kisser of your current incompetent line manager and / or unless you have a V power that is is wide open for a job security or promotion. Unfortunately, Shell Americas never learns from its mistakes, year on year most disciplines hire / promote bullies in leadership roles who only feel safe around a–holes like them.
The RDS still has too many layers (compared to competitors - it has more managers than doers). In fact, some don’t do anything but b—s—ting and collect fat checks & benefits every two weeks! I hope the forthcoming reshape will take care these lazy & corrupt mofos!

Actually, gotta love Shell here! They will lay you off right before the next boom, so you can look for opportunities and have no gap in employment.

Just comfortably numb here. When they come for me - they come for me.

The industry is imploding, stay nimble and keep your ear to the ground at all times.

And yeah, don't believe any assurances, they are not worth the energy required to utter them!

End of this year, it’s when senior leaders are saying that the new org will be ready

Doesn’t take much to piece it all together.
SVS - DSM excluded as will have been messy for selling sites without the experience people. There is more sites still to be placed for sale to align with the strategy announced a while ago.
Re-.org, key drive will be moving as many support roles as possible both from site and central offices to the SBO/TAO hubs in India/Poland etc. They have been excluded from reorg and have been increasing staff. Poland has 4000 staff on campus. Many sites already have virtual work prep being done.
To compete with BP/Chevron, then expect job cuts of a similar % . Which by my calculations will be about 15000.
Expect minimal expat roles and only by exception where the site/asset is in the c-ap regards start up ie Prelude.

Very good point, and one the junior level employees should take heed of. I’ve found the folks in for 3 years or less are looking way to comfortable. Your time will come too.

A: Every year you work for this company. It's your risk and life, roll the dice and hope you can survive and get the pot of gold to retirement. For most, at some point they will be given a package and told to move on. Everyone thinks their safe. Maybe they are, today. Things change and can quickly find yourself facing interviewing for your own job with a new GM being offered a severance....and your going to wonder what the F just happened? All the polite niceties and soothing to make you feel secure is total BS. They leadership could give $h!t less about you or your family. YOU ARE NEVER SECURE IN THIS ORGANIZATION, NEVER. REMEMBER THAT AND PLAN NOW.
