At the latest CBS virtual "Town Hall" George Cheeks announced that lay offs are over, at least for the CBS side of the business.
Does everyone agree? What do you think?

The entire merger layoff schedule for year 2020 was decided in January. Barring any unforeseen changes, the remaining layoffs are scheduled for end of September and end of December.
The virus postponed one scheduled round of layoffs for a month in the Spring because VIAC did not like the optics of laying off people in the middle of lockdowns.
Other than that month, they have proceeded exactly as planned...monthly for first half of the year with second half of year scheduled for end of each quarter.
Text message Posts and Replies such as: "1515 & 345 personal Belongings" (as if anybody knows what 345 is, only in NYC does anybody know 1515 is Viacom - so just say Viacom)."7 laid off in marcomms" comment (just say marketing & communications - and where? Markomms where??? NY? LA? where?). w/p getting laid off (Again just say writers/ producers - where? where are writers & producers getting laid off? NY? LA? Entertainment? News? Viacom? CBS? - Jeez, you ae all supposed to be in telecommunications - then communicate. why leave 90 percent of people here in the dark? why should anybody have to wait hours until somebody clarifies the Jargon? really! stop the Text message cryptic lingo
If separations end 12/31 that means the person was laid off 3 months prior to that date. That's what WARN does. It gives you 90
days of pay before you officially separate from the company.
To the last commenter, what exactly are you not understanding?
The insider Jargon from various ViacomCBS silos & the various internal practices need to be spelled out in Plain English - there is indeed too much Text-Message type posts that alienate most others from understanding the bigger picture. we should not have 3 replies to 1 post - had it been explained in the first place
this whole thread is weird, but the Cheeks town hall is different than Bob Live. Chris McCarthy has town halls, Brian Robbins has town halls... Bob isn't on those, they are their respective division heads and have been happening for a long time. this is tin foil hat stuff to imply it means something that Bob wasn't on a Cheeks town hall.
anybody who is Savvy about Viac Stock know that if Spongebob Bakish isn't in the picture - the share price may sway 50 percent if he is fired. The monthly meetings are called "BOB" Live - if Bakish does all his meetings from HOME - there is NO Reason for him to be Absent from a ZOOM type meeting. So: what does it matter? is a stupid question. Bakish leaving would be the biggest VIAC news of all this year. It would mean Shari is Losing Control. If Cheeks is running the show - it would mean most likely - that layoffs will be at Viacom NOT CBS or the rest of the year. but just answering if Bob was there or not would help fill in the gaps. Aug 7th VIAC reports 2nd QTR - BUT there was also NO MENTION of Bakish - so if you're paying attention - you would stop asking obnoxious questions
Why does it matter if Bob was present or not?
If the administrator could refrain from making posts in the form of text messaging inside-baseball comments- that would be great. Author here clearly BURIES THE LEAD and leaves more important questions Being: Is Town Hall different from BOB LIVE? If, so WAS BOB present? if Bob wasn't present - then where is he? would be the big question. If George Cheeks is standing-in for Bob - that is more interesting than wondering if Cheeks is accurate or not
Not according to the WARN noticed amended on 6/27, and posted to the NYS dept. of labor site. It states layoff are being extended through the EOY.
"This update will impact an additional 36 employees at several ViacomCBS Inc. entity sites in New York City. Employee separations began on 4/15/2020 and will continue until 12/31/2020."
