Huge salary? Hardly! It’s more like a mediocre salary with extras to compensate for the mental trauma and psychological damages done by working here.
Do you think the monthly pay statement is known amongst expats as “the monthly apology” for a joke? Nope! That’s exactly what it is!
And don’t get me started on the lies told by recruiters in Houston, London or Singapore! Bare faced lies, not even twists of the truth or lies by omission, they’re blatant!
Many people come here under false pretences then find themselves stuck for a fairly long time, trying to make it work for the sake of the family they’ve uprooted on the basis of the lies told by recruiters (and interviewers too!). Others are stuck due to tax implications of leaving foreign lands.
Why do you think the HR manual specifically deals with those who abscond? Because it happens, and often! People get sick of the place and leave unannounced. Is that the sign of a good employer? Not in my books it’s not!
So let’s not try to BS each other here, the company are no angels nor shining lights of honesty, interfaith, trust or honour. They’re as bent if not more bent than pretty much any other corporation in the world....
