Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

Covid19 the blessing in disguise for Fossil 2020

There has been a virus at Fossil for a longtime. Years of crazy acquisitions, licensing agreements, product ideas (hello Craft), senior staffing decisions and a corporate headquarters that was never used to its full potential. Now - leadership can blame those years of misguided, ignorant, arrogant decisions on a pandemic. They all seem to forget how badly the company has been doing for years pre Covid. Although performance never stopped the stupidity or dumb decisions, we march on with more crazy decisions. With Covid19, we can say goodbye to another 30 to 40% of our colleagues and we can give the final kick in the butt to our struggling, loyal retail partners around the world. Plus - we get to put our factory partners in bankruptcy and k–l our component factories. Way to go Fossil, ELT and senior management (new - can you believe that) and old. Kosta - Wake up. These people you rely on think of themselves. In the future, spare us the fanfare of announcing the hiring of a new, highly paid executive who is desperate enough to join us. That’s a lesson that should have been learned a longtime ago.

Does Fossil really have any choice but to throw everything against the wall and see what sticks? Since the Apple watch came along, Fossil is a buggy whip company in a automotive world.

Yes! What were they thinking when they hired TK? Why would we ever trust their options after that well-dressed mistake? And what about Jill?

TK is just one of many that joined the company because their previous jobs had ended or were close to it. Kosta and the ELT seem to like getting the industry’s left overs. And, in TK’s defense he wasn’t even part of the industry. I think management is just happy someone will take the job. Wake up. Bad decisions. People. Brands. Investments. Communication.
When you decide to F over your retailers - you know things are bad.
Get ready. Massive layoffs next week! Unfortunately - the leadership will not be touched. Those that would have bailed already.
