As below, I also heard next Tuesday.
GDE was a Tuesday, Feb 12th - as horrible as it sounds, related in this thread. Behavior reinforced by aggressive messaging by managers in my area. "Behave as told, or else bad things will happen to you".
We had been told it was coming in an all-hands prior to Christmas and then had the two-month wait and the constant "we have nothing more to say", "sit down and shut up" theme from local management.
Last days were strung out from that Tuesday, Thursday was the earliest I heard of, then out through June. Oddly, I know a handful that ended up being saved, in their same role.
I can't even imagine how this goes down in the Bose virtual world, with the lack of human face-to-face interactions and the ability of management to cut short it short and sign off when they get uncomfortable. To be a small bit fair, there have been a number of companies the last couple of months just having a canned concall or video, and then you are immediately gone.
From another thread - "There are jobs out there, good jobs. Hiring is happening. Many of us can attest to that good reality. Be careful in your present situation, but dammit my friends, be proactive! Get moving it you aren't already! We can only help take care of each other at this point."
This going to be a big one.. Bose management has been so poor.. even if you escaped this layoff, so you think Bose is going to survive. It's a sinking ship guys.. do you think Bose can compete with Apple in airpod space.. Bose trying to release it for past 2 years.. how many times it slipped. also see frames.. nothing new and they are really slow in putting it to the market and they are not meeting the schedule.. Bose is totally F__ked up..
I don’t know how Bose does it but in many companies you get an appointmentl that appears on your calendar the night before with your manager, sometimes with hr or sometimes they hide this. And often an all staff meeting scheduled afterwards for the remaining.
I heard that CED would be next Tuesday, CIS on Thursday. Friday would be everyone’s last day. Trying hard to remain calm and focused, certainly isn’t easy.
Unfortunately there is no opportunity for the group meeting, desk or individual conference rooms. Just waiting for a last minute virtual meeting to be scheduled I guess?
If it's anything like the GDE layoffs last year you'll have a group meeting first. Then ask to head to your desk and stay there. Then an HR rep will call each person in one by one to go over the severance package. So many of us got laid off that there were multiple HR reps in conference rooms.
I was hoping after I got laid off my friends and former colleagues would be safe, but I guess not.
Hang in there.
I agree.... the waiting is k–ling me.
