Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Is there hope for us left when the dust settles?

I have worked for the Boeing Co. for over 10 years now. I would say about 1 year after being hired and having that “heck yeah, I work for Boeing” fade and fully understanding how this place is. Unfortunately I have consistently and systematically witnessed choices being made and people put into positions that have year by year ruined this company and brought us to where we are today, and I’m talking about every ware from the shop floor the board room.
Can anyone see the company improve? And if so what do you think can or needs to be done? Will Boeing ever be more than just a good paying job again?

The guy said "over 10 years". I've been in the workforce since 1994. But if anyone asks me, I just say "over 10 years". LOL

I like your analogy of "rearranging the tech chairs". I have seen managers use a similar analogy : managers playing poker giving up and shuffling their bad cards (us engineers) amongst themselves (moving the bad ones across programs, etc.). There might be some negligible validity for this, but for the most part, IT IS THE MANAGERS THAT ARE THE "BAD CARDS". lol...

You have been here for 10 years, you know better. Has the dust EVER settled? No.

New management comes in and it's like we start all over from scratch. They all want to make their mark. It does not matter of it is a front like manager that changes the way the team does things or a senior leader that reorganizes the company. We don't build on our predisessors, we throw the baby out with the bathwater and start over every 2 to 3 years. Everyone wants to streamline so we have layoffs, then we hire for 3 years, have more people than we had at the last layoff, and we lay off again.

Boeing, as with most companies has a strategy of rearranging the tech chairs on the titanic to fix any problem. It's only when the water reaches the captains cabin that we do "just enough" to keep us afloat, until the next time.
