Im grateful RH was able to get contractors hourly rate back. Taking the “W” when ever u can.
If you are one of those who favors nice workflows then you might have a problem. Was your previous system built on a series of GUIs?
It’s still such a shame that Oxy chose not to follow whatever IT model LAPC had. As an engineer I don’t know what they did but I know I had never worked at another company with such flawlessly supported systems, and that has such a positive impact on moral and productivity. Feels like we stepped back twenty years in time. Hard to believe whatever cost savings are realized to have sh–ty IT support aren’t negated with less productivity that’s just hard to quantify.
It is despicable IT management outsources to INDIA. (HCL America), & the HB1 VISA scammers. These people can barely speak English, come on chat, they are very polite though, but have a bad habit of really not understanding some issues, make every ticket a low priority. Replacing highly qualified USA folks who could be doing these jobs.
But a very high value needs to be placed on the Onsite IT support folks. They are wonderful and I do not feel they are paid enough, some are contractors but should be OXY employees instead.
Hey IknoweveryonehatesITbut, I actually don't hate IT. I know some good people there who try to help us out from time to time. Not perfect, but I don't blame many of the individuals we work with. But probably like you, I absolutely despise IT management. Just like I despise my own management.
Oxy IT Mgmt - I know you are doing 4 jobs and working lots of extra hours. It’s ok to say no to people. You have our support. Oh... but you have to do this. And don’t forget that. Yes, that too. And this and that... oh and make sure to do all these administrative tasks. Oh and wait... those projects on hold... yep start thinking about doing those too. And make sure to take PTO. It’s important to take time for yourself.
If they didn’t bring back full salaries, they would have major retention issues.
Not true, I have been a top tier employee every year since I got hired at APC. It has been rough with OXY, but I'm sticking with it. There will be a lot of opportunity with so many people leaving the company.
Pay raises. Dream on. This industry is in trouble which in the past has meant no raises. People are lucky to have jobs.
What about the pay raises we worked hard for, I guess they just forgot about that. Figure we are id–ts and be thankful for what we get and not what we have earned.
I’m not complaining. But wonder if the accelerated return to normal pay is related to the investigation on what Oxy did with the CARES act tax refunds.
@ugi Anyone who can leave will leave, that's why Oxy had to. Back in 2015-2016 good people left en masse.
But hey, apparently we don't know economics and you do. Guess Oxy has done so well with your line of thinking. Enjoy the smouldering wreck of your Oxy shares and retirement savings.
BS. Employees won’t leave, they have no place to go! Not in this market
As soon as the chicks were put in charge everything went to c-ap. Go back home where you belong.
This is a good first step for recovery. Maybe If all goes well In the remaining part of 2020 the company will make up next year for the previous two months of reduced wages.
Not if she is taking care of your kids and running your house.
Feel as happy as a raise now!
They knew it all the time? Was this part of the plan or you think oil price weighted?
Wont tell my wife she will spend it!
Someone wasn’t full of BS for the first time. Lol! Well done.
Lmao
If they actually do this, they are only doing it because they feel like they have to. Paying your employees far below market is no way to retain staff. Employees will continue to leave if they don’t make a change.
That would be interesting. I know of a few Anadarko employees that left with the VSP thinking they were inline for a salary cut come August. It makes sense to give ours back to keep from cutting the Anadarko employees salary, because they need the APC people for GOM, Algeria, etc.
It is our combined raise for the next 10 years given to us upfront.
Maybe it will come with a raise! Lol
