I know of a handful of people who had submitted voluntary leave offers in the last couple of weeks, all of their offers denied. Got counter-offers from Oxy HR last week (pretty low offers from what I understand), all of the employees denied those Oxy counter-offers. Yesterday (6/12) these employees were called by head/upper HR telling them it was their last day and that Oxy can force them to take their last offer they submitted to Oxy because they never officially rescinded their offers. Does anyone know of other people this happened to? Seems pretty shady to me (not that anything Oxy does surprises me anymore).

The thing you should not be doing is working hard to pick up the slack. Let them see what happens when morale is decimated from benefits reduction, poor corporate leadership, and a lack of resources. Do not feel as if you're to blame. What are they going to do? There will be no bonuses in 2021. If you're actually in a department that has suffered attrition then theres a lower chance to be laid off. And honestly I'd take being laid off at this point.
Hang in there. Just last weekend I worked on Saturday and Sunday to help prepare for some meetings that coming Monday. This weekend I had work to do, but left it for the work week. I am done working after hours to get work done since my co-workers have left. I will still give my best during the work week, but I am not doing anything on the weekends or after hours. If it cost me on my review then so be it. Life is too short to give up my free time, and there not be any economic benefit other than having a job. Time to enjoy a little family and me time. Oxy needs to understand you can't just let good people go, and then expect the rest of us not to miss a beat for 30% less, and cut benefits.
I am so very jealous of those lucky ones. My offers were rejected, and I never got a phone call. Now I have to do 3 jobs for 30% less pay. I for one am not going to put up with this much longer. Those of us left behind who are good at their jobs need to band together and “suggest” Oxy do performance-based reinstatements.
I'm so sorry LOXY that you have to pick up the pieces. Better things will be in the future for you.
Agreed. The people who suffer from all of this are the ones left picking up the pieces with lots of stress, long hours, weekends, a ton of pressure, and reduced salaries. Congratulations to those who received what they wanted. You are now free to exit this roller coaster ride that has no end in sight.
Last comment sums it up perfectly.
Oxy would have been better off in the beginning to let everyone at APC leave and move on that wanted to.They could of paid high retention bonuses for those needing to stay, but let everyone else leave. We could have kept all Oxy that took the VSP because most were good workers. Playing these stupid games just upset a lot of people, and made for a bad integration. Before they did the name your price game they let all the ones go that had accepted the VSP. This makes it tough on those left when the APC knowledge just walks out the door. We have lost good workers during this name your price time that had very little time to transition their jobs, but out the door they went. Some had jobs that need to be done, but others still here are left with their work with very little knowledge of what the person did. I just think there could of been a better way to handle the employee side of things and actually kept happy and hard working employees. Now many are overworked and paid 30% less through no fault of their own. It is hard to get up everyday and try to work through 3 other peoples jobs at the reduced pay, but I try my best to do it as I am sure many of my co-workers do. I just don’t know how much longer those of us left can keep it up. I do wish all that have left the best of luck and I hope you all got near what you wanted. Enjoy your 100% pay for the next few months or years while those left try to make it on 70% for actually having to work each day. This is all on Oxy for creating this environment, and if they paid consultants to advice you need to get your money back.
VH didn’t really seem confident in the town hall a week ago that we’re not going bankrupt
Loxy. I put in for 24 months, and got denied. I have been at the company for 15 years. Really insulting that I keep hearing Lapc getting all the money.
Wow. So Lapc getting paid handsomely as Loxy watch our stock and company die. Not mad at the Lapc folks. Envy yes. But upset at oxy executives. This is really awful.
Oxy is not going bankrupt so put that thought aside
The only drawback compared to COC is that this is not paid in a lump sum but rather in payments right? So there is some question about whether or not they would get the money after a bankruptcy?
They did get their higher offer. I haven’t heard of anyone complaining about it. These people were the real winners in this and made out with nearly 100% coc. They held out and had their high offer accepted. The triple comment was correct. Oxy went much higher than people thought at the last minute.
Do you mean they got their last high offer? Not the lower Oxy counteroffer? If so, it is good for most everyone!
Maybe they should have rescinded if they were supposed to. Not sure what anyone could complain about if they did not follow procedure. At least the folks I knew got what they wanted and are taking some time off. They were not too happy in their jobs, it worked out good for them and Oxy.
I also know some people who this happened to. I don’t think they are unhappy about it though. It sounds like their payouts triple or more what most people who had their offers accepted right away got.
Yes, I'm L-APC and know someone it happened to yesterday. They were tickled pink.
The moral of the story is you can't trust anything HR says. Their communications all said there would be no negotiations. There were LOTS of negotiations over the past couple weeks.
Oh man what an awful company giving people exactly what they had asked for
