Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

Layoff Algorithm???

I was notified yesterday. I was suggested for promotion mid-year and expected it in August. 100% recoverable very busy. Was told the algorithm looked at role and impact for decision. Well, sh–. Would like to know all the aspects of “the algorithm” in this case. Very disappointing.

Honestly I think they were looking at the rankings only.

Layoff algorithm is simple. It is not some AI, 499 (or lower)people from each office so that they can avoid WARN notices. So if you are in a big office like NY, which is the home office for thousands of Accenture food, your chances of getting laid off are lesser.

layoffs at Accenture fast and furious now. Will accelerate through end of FY. People being let go without any advance warning. Being told "leadership determined" (you are toast).

Just got news I'm getting laid off. I was working on a CIO role and everything looked good to make it through this year's perf reviews. Despite all the good feedback, didn't matter.

How many people laid off in Seattle? Who were they?

If somebody still gets a lot of tasks to do but on the bench, do you think these employees will get lay off too?

How about cyber-security people?

No thought was put into this at all, except in the secrecy and minimum amount of "care" for the dismembered. I lost a job where I repeatedly asked if my lack of chargeable time was a problem and was told "no, we're different." So much for that. Accenture is just like the rest of them. All about profit, nothing about value. It's gross and I am so sorry my company was acquired by them. They don't build anything except slide decks.

@1dpt - first that doesn't make it right how it was done. you do not have control of your role 90% of the time. secondly, in my case, I was chargeable and in a role that I was asked to be in for a troubled project. but it wasn't a role that was forecasted for my level. and in the end even though we say we do not we ladder and i was low performer the prior year relative to the roles my peers had. you can take your matter of fact post and do you know what with it.

hey @jgn - we were not given DTE breakdowns, geo, etc. it feels like a 5% to 10% cut, and frankly all folks that were let go (that i know of) had issues with utilization or performance issues. i am in california and all folks that were let go in my office were on the bench (or BD work)

Wow. An algorithm. And to admit to it. Cold and inhuman.

Any idea how many people have been laid off? Any sense of regional difference or DTE or level?

It is indeed very disappointing. I have been with Accenture for less than 17 months, and the MD who notified me was probably reading from a script that made it sound more awful than it should have been - in a nutshell he couldn’t admit it was an algorithm, so he said a bunch of b*** reasons that didn’t make any sense.
