There are signs that the next few weeks will be brutal.

SD keeps reminding us to stay focused on our customers but then turns around and tells us tough decisions will need to be made in regards to the employees. Why should the employees work hard for you and SP when you don’t give a rat’s a– about the employees? God this company has gone off the cliff
Take it however you want.
most people are taking from behind, big and hard.
I get that this is supposed to be a place where employees go to vent out loud but I like that SD is at least doing videos every Friday to keep us updated. Take it however you want.
Hang on it’s not fair to blame SD for this situation. He’s doing the best he can with these crazy changing times. No CEO has had to deal with these circumstances before. He’s doing what he has to and taking care.of people the best he can. Hang in there.
What moral authority does SD have to lecture the rest of us? This guy went around putting Coke machines in schools everywhere while the country suffers from a childhood obesity epidemic. His poison soda has been one of the leading causes of obesity, diabetes and heart disease. He could care less about anyone or anything except his own wallet.
SD has no credibility, why should we believe anything he says? His Go To Market strategy was a complete failure and we all paid the price for his incompetence with that dismal bonus. He’s more concerned about pandering to the mob than taking care of employees who perform. After watching today’s video I’m convinced that it’s time to abandon this sinking ship.
I love watching this circus show. It's been so much better than I expected when I bailed out in 2015 from lying trash managers and backstabbing coworkers. Excellent stuff, the gift that keeps giving. FLAME ON!
Has Staples changed it’s severance policy? If I’m furloughed am I getting x weeks of my furlough salary or my full salary?
I’m curious about ‘tough decisions’ too - I don’t think all the cuts he made over the last 2 years were thought of by SD as tough decisions.
I heard he’s going to sell off SPP Canada and SBA Canada to Staples Canada Retail to pocket some cash for SP. And sell off the rest of SPP if he can as it isn’t core to the long term plan. He’ll then close a few offices in the US to save some more costs, and finally cut Merchandising and Marketing to make this work. With COVID, he won’t have to pay so much severance - so that’s what he’ll do. What a disaster - but SP and SD have no one to blame but themselves.
I dunno how he can stress those 7 bullet points (eg ecomm growth led company; world-class data-driven decisions; best digital sales company; empower high-performance, diverse team) and then be OK with the caliber of folks in charge of SDS and e-commerce.
Just look at this message board – over half of the posts are people complaining about the performance of their bosses and higher ups. There is a very serious culture problem with lack of accountability for poor decision making (most important) and failure to deliver consistently.
Where is that video? Hub?
"Some tough decisions" repeated about 3-4 times...
What signs?
