As a former DealerFire employee, it pains me to see people in Oshkosh being let go, and also to see those that remain to STILL be grossly underpaid by this company. I wish all of you the absolute best!

I was laid off on Monday. I was on PTO the day of the mass layoffs, Thursday. So first thing Monday they let me go. My supervisor knew on Thursday and I participated in the all hands meeting that afternoon after they finished notifying those getting released. I was the only team member from my department that was let go. They did it in a matter of 15 minutes and I didn't even get to ask questions or anything. SUPER disappointed in how it was handled.

DealerSocket is openly betting on moving most work to India, it's difficult to understand why should I bet my future on DealerSocket in a technical role. Fool me twice... ok, sure

So layoffs appear to be a yearly item in the US? I see comments from 2017, 2019, and now 2020. None for 2018 though. Thank you for posting the India TV video and the job postings notice for Indeed in India. The future is not US-based.

Clearly, DS doesn't value its employees as I was told by the recruiter who was also laid off last week. This whole situation is very upsetting. It does appear that Inventory isn't going to fare well going forward. Sad indeed because there were many great developers before management made the decision to off shore.

The CxO suite and Vista clearly makes decisions in their best interest and bank account. Yeah, a company must be profitable to survive but don't lie to us!

I am so tired of hearing how we are a family. Dysfunctional perhaps but not a caring one. Sorry for all the ranting but this company is not what I was told it was during the hiring process.

Wow, you lay people off then you post urgent openings for their job one day later in another country. How low can you be?

And found this interview stating that India office may be up to 500 and maybe more over the next several years.

Economic Times article says DS was looking to hire 200 employees in India back in January. They may be looking to do so more aggressively now for technical positions. Some job postings as recent as 1 day ago from indeed's India site are listed as "urgent opening".

They can make up whatever narrative they wish as of to why this lay-off occurred. They have been on this road for some time. It was pretty clear no matter what was communicated by the executive team, that once the Indian office was open development would move off shore. Inventory has bled dry since the move from DT. Overall I can’t see how DS will stay its current course & survive intact. The engineers who didn’t get cut are moving to other products.

Not opening brand new state of the art offices in other countries and hiring 100 people there is 6 months definitely doesn’t help, either. I understand it’s cheaper but it’s scummy to do that. Take care of your own first.

I have to laugh at DealerSocket. Acquire AutoMate but people go remote and all of the sudden you need to start cutting? While you did extend discounts to customers, you also saved on expenses of traveling. Bookings were also at 100% through March. If you struggle for 2 months and cut people when dealerships are reopening, then you are either in bad shape financially or badly mismanaged. Furloughs happening at the start was the right way to do it.

Digital Sales, Sales Opps, Franchise Sales, Recruiting. This is just the beginning. The mismanagement begins with the titles of CRO and CEO. All either out of Irving or Remote. Not to mention the exodus of key DealerFire people over the last few months on their own should play an interesting role moving forward as well.

God forbid they cut the executive salaries for a little bit....
Everything in the news is saying the auto industry is turning around. I wish they could have held out a little while longer.

Not aware of any IDMS layoffs in Irving office but there are at least two teams in Bangalore that are performing work. Who knows other than executive managers what the future holds for the local team.

Well of course they’re going to say that...if they say it’s related to covid they won’t have to do a WARN filing. 100% agree that it seems like they’re trying to move more to india

This layoff was framed as "related to covid". Given they started the Bangalore office long before Covid was a problem I think this is symptom of overall restructuring.

Anybody know if any more layoffs are coming, in any department? Was this one covid19 related or was it something that was in the works for a long time?

Almost all of inventory engineering to Bangalore. I believe iDMS is also following the same path though is a much smaller tribe overall. My assumption is that inventory platform is either being abandoned or sold.

most inventory engineering, or most engineering in general? that seems like a really bad idea to move all engineering for every department offshore

I know irving was affected engineering & operations. Last week inventory engineering was advised that most engineering operations will be moved offshore.

Employees in US offices only, from what I've seen. Offshore offices in Kaliningrad and Bangalore seem unaffected.
