Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Direct Sales Reps

Is this happening to ALL DSR’s? I can’t wrap my head around this? This company can still find ways to shock me. I’m sure this won’t be the last time.
It’s been common knowledge when working sales jobs in general, that you earn more for selling more. Right now at Altice, they are rewarding guys who under perform & they are making more than ever? While the guys who are leading teams are making less than normal for selling the same as before Covid? Great for the guys who are just getting a taste of a good commission check but what about the guys that are earning the business & fighting for each customer?

It's amazing direct sales still exists. Who opens their door anymore to door to door salesmen?

It's okay they have contractors handling your'e sales installs for you now.Couldn't string together an intelligent sentence, let alone figure out a backfeed for an alarm panel.Remember they don't climb poles,or replace outlets.Let us know how that turns out for you.I'd love to hear the feedback on that.....

While it is imperative that we have people selling jobs/work,the promises made by them make others jobs very frustrating.A standard commercial/residential install DOES NOT include networking, activating multiple jacks, running cat 3/cat5(unless BHV specific).Start creating a checklist of what you're clients needs are.Walk through the job with the client to identify existing services. Many commercial/residential customers have cameras(poe and traditional),pay stations, atm's,multi line phones, voip systems, pbx back end(digital phone box),fax/scanner,server racks, static firewalls, keystone jacks, alarm systems etc.We can't help you, unless you help us.Offer to have a 3rd party evaluate the system if you are not able to proficiently evaluate.Be upfront and honest. You will notice alot more of the work will be completed and in a timely manner.
Just my 2 cents

I completely agree that some reps are not truthful. Having spoken with many customers who have had other reps lie to them, I have dealt with that a lot. For me, being successful does require me to be honest. It doesn’t serve me, my job, my credibility, my boss to be dishonest. I never understand why anyone in my field would mislead customers. It costs each rep $ for cancels & charge backs. I’ve seen guys have their checks eaten up that way. Plus, I live in the community I sell in. I understand your assumptions but they are misdirected. Yes, I can still be concerned for the future when territories are saturated. I, like many do have a family to consider. I have been with this company for a while & stuck it out thru some very hard times, as many on here have. Job hopping isn’t my thing. I was simply stating an obvious concern to see if any other DSR’s are having a similar issue. But thanks for your support & positivity.

Dont think to hard about it. You guys cant write up an order worth of azz anyway. Promise the customer the world . Lie about how magical your products are. Then when a tech goes there to install the order is screwed. Hope you saved your commission checks. Oh wait they'll probably bounce soon. An mind you i say this with full respect for you. Your job is rough an your office door has the hinge in the middle, so it spins freely. 😁
