Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Boeing soon to have a PR problem

With the stock shooting up almost overnight and making stockholders millions, Boeing is about to face another PR problem.

Laying off amidst a stock rally of almost 100% gain.

It's going to look bad. Now, I have no doubt they will follow through. They will get rid of 16k+ people, but it's not going to play well in the press.

Changing course due to it being a bad look would require Boeing leadership to have some sort of self awareness. As will all corporate leadership (and politicians) they become disconnected from the rank and file (no matter how many fireside chats they do from their home office).

One can hope they will see the light, but it has not happened yet.

Yep, I mentioned this earlier about a correlation between layoffs and stock price going up for the "economy for dummies" audience. Even a 5th Grader can see that "pattern".

Yet another dense person who doesn’t understand how economics work. Part of the reason the stock went up is BECAUSE the company reduced labor force.

It’s not an almost 100% gain. It’s more. I caught the bottom at just under $100 and cashed out yesterday. Not bad for 3 months. Was just cashing in on ignorance. 737 MAX looks like a dumpster fire and there’s no way I’m investing in that long term.

Are you in fantasy land? I would hate to see your dot to dot pictures. Layoffs are because no plane orders has nothing to do with stock price. They reduced workers based on no orders. When market turns around Boeing will need workers and they will not look at stock price to determine worker count. Boeing is a company in a free market society the USA

Sorry to disabuse you of the notion, but just like the Honey Badger, executives don't care. They're more than happy to see the stock price run back up again, then they will dump right before the market takes another plunge in the fall.

Calhoun is probably getting paid partially in options so he could care less.
