There's a neat new feature on Kmart's Wikipedia page. They (FINALLY) are listing an almost accurate store count on there. They have 44 stores listed. They are still counting NH & ND, but their closing is right around the corner so presumably will soon be removed from this list. The mistake I found is that they have 6 stores listed for NY. There are only 5 in actuality (Brooklyn is a Sears not a Kmart). Perhaps they are erroneously counting that one. The citation that Wikipedia has next to the NY count leads to a Kmart website page which still oddly lists Bath NY Kmart (which closed ages ago). So maybe they are erroneously counting that?
Not to humble brag, but I can't help feeling some pride in the fact that I came up with this idea in 2019, of a running count of remaining Kmart stores. Their website was giving vastly inaccurate count information, and I established, instituted, and to THIS DAY, maintain the master list, which has apparently been picked up by various news outlets, and now even Wikipedia. You're welcome, y'all!
