Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

How much will new hires salary go down?

I’ve heard that many consluting companies are planning to adjust new-hires’ salary levels, any idea by how much? Do we have anyone on this board who was with the company back in 2001 or 2008 - what happened then?

I got and accepted an offer in December 2000, I graduated in June 2001 and was slated to start in July 2001. I was offered 52K (California, C&HT). The economy cratered in March 2001 and my start date was defered - I was given $15K in exchange for a promise to wait and come work for Accenture when the economy recovers.

Anyhow, they started to bring folks in in June 2002, no salary adjustements. I got a call and my start date was moved to September 15 2020, all fine... Except they made a decision that was communicated on 8/15 that all folks starting 9/1 and after will have to accept a 20% salary reduction or they will not be called back. I accepted, started and planned and left the company 10 years later as a Senior Manager. I had my ups and downs but it took me a while to recover from that 20% cut...

I hope this helps.
