Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Who goes, who stays?

How do we know who will be laid off? Anyone been through this before want to chime in on what divisions / departments may be safe vs who is more likely to go when this stuff starts to go down? I've never been through this before...but I know Dell has had many rounds of layoffs over the years so curious if the same roles are targeted each go around?

Bill S386 got rejected. It will never pass. That means companies have to pay in $1000s every year to keep this so called cheap workers. Not sure, how they are saving it? Why can't all H1B workers work from their home country?

Now since President Trump banned H1B workers. Does any one know, if they are going to start letting go all H1b workers?

People are calling racists for bringing up H1B visa employees, it just sad and wrong. It is not true, we have lot of qualified American who can do this job. It takes like 3 months of training to learn some thing. So called high skill workers are nothing. They take 3 months course in their home country and say they know every thing. H1B holders do no contribute, except keeping their managers happy. How can American not get trained on a technology which they invented ? 30 million Americans are unemployed. They can WFH from their home country.

Most often than not, people who gripe about foreign workers are racists. Youre mad because someone you see as inferior got the job. Maybe dont be such an entitled whiny employee so your managers wont have to look overseas for talent.

Agree, H1B visa holders are a burden on the company. What is the point on paying forgin workers when American don't have jobs. Send them back.

I think the point is we're paying for h1b to work her in the US, but they can no longer be on site so why are they here. They probably can work remotely from wherever they come from. Maybe Dell saves money if they do that, especially if Dell is paying for housing.

Yes. As most are working from home let transfer all the jobs to offshore and do a massive layoff here.

They should no loner be sponsoring H1-B visas. Doesn't make sense to sponsor if they're simply working from their apartments and not physically in the office. Seems like a waste of money to me.
