Thread regarding Enterprise Rent-A-Car layoffs

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is still a great company

What is happening right now is happening because of the coronavirus pandemic. There was very little that could have been done to avoid it. But outside of that, this company has been good to us. At least it has to me. When's the last time we've had layoffs before this year? Unlike most other companies in our industry, we had job security. And I truly believe we'll have it once again once all of this is over.

I hate to see people malign a company that has been so good to them for so long. I guess everybody is quick to forget.

do u guys realize why they hire straight outta college? because those new grads don't know any better! The pay they promise is based on working 48 hrs. Branches schedule employees for 48 hrs to get them to their salary. I worked here 7 years, was scared of letting go. Best thing ever happened to me, is that I left. btw...i was a top performer, i would have made ARM had I stayed. Enterprise did teach me how to hustle. But it also taught me to cheat customers, pass along damaged cars, cheat my employees, talk sh– about my dealers and stab my peers to get to that top performer spot.

I worked for Enterprise for years, and casually observed that they talked the talk but didn’t walk the walk. And yes, I’m talking about YOU. There was no consistency on how employees were treated. If you had a good department manager, things were better for the employees. But mostly you had management that wanted to look like heroes, coming in under budget at the cost of the employees. Oh, and the Ethics Committee is a joke. One of the violators is ON the Ethics Committee! But I believe in Karma. There are better companies out there. I hope everyone who was dismissed from Enterprise finds on of those companies and sees the Enterprise did the a favor letting them go,

You’ve got to be kidding me. It’s pretty much the worst company out there. Frat boy culture, nonstop gossip and favoritism galore! I’m surprised there hasn’t been a class action suit in the news lately. They chew you up and spit you out. No one will be making much money for a while now.....

Sorry to the people who were let go. You’ll find something better, that’s a promise!

For the people that say it is not Enterprises fault or that they are a good company let’s really look it. Enterprise has and will always use situations like this to their benefit. These are times that separate the good and great just like the book. Enterprise was a great company under Jack but that was along time ago. I built a long time career with Enterprise and left on my own and I have to tell you the reason why I left when I did it was because I saw Bob is going on and how the company is falling apart so many different areas. It really breaks down to greed and there was so many people at the top that are greedy and are using the company to their own benefits. That’s why you never saw the mission statement for the last 5+ years because they don’t believe in that as part of the culture any longer. That was the foundation of the company to check built in the company that I was a part of i’m proud to be there. The people at the top will put there by the Taylor‘s and the Taylor’s have allowed this to happen to such a great company that it once was. The people that are going back to enterprise it is a different company and so many people are just doing it because they have no other options at the moment. That is a bad position for companies to be in when people have to work for them as opposed to wanting to work for them. There is so many great companies out there looking for good people and it would be just a matter of time before people leave the company and go to work for someone else. Rumour has it that they did much of what they did during the pandemic to set themselves up for going public. Not sure if that’s really the truth or not but it certainly could make sense.

I got called back earlier this week to Enterprise. It's a smoldering wreck of a company now, and I truly regret going back. If you felt undervalued and overworked before, it's going to be ten times worse now. They simply don't care, because the bottom has dropped out of their business model.

While it was not the company's fault, the way they are handling this certainly is. I have many friends who were impacted by furloughs/layoffs and what their companies are doing for them makes Enterprise look like the bottom of the barrel. You were perhaps not in the zoom meeting where they thought the cameras were off (they weren't) and the entire HR team was laughing at us and debating should we be eligible for rehire. No matter what they say they clearly targeted the hire paid people. And I don't even mind that but be honest. They claimed the process was fair and they went off of XYZ, but that was a lie. I was in the top 100 of rankings, never had any type of corrective action, was a mentor for new hires and I was one of the first permanently laid off. I am glad you still feel this is a good company, but I don't share your sentiment at all. Maybe we were the guinea pigs and they have improved how they are handling all of this (I pray they have because nobody should have ever been treated the way we were) but for me the bitter taste for Enterprise will never go away. For a company so intense on their SQI, they clearly need to revisit their SQI internally.

"There was very little that could have been done to avoid it. "

Totally false, but certainly not Enterprise's fault.
