I got the pink slip at big D. The partners try to convince the employees hard that this is a yearly pruning process and that the firm does it every year but usually its a staggered pruning. One employee every month or so. This year, the difference being, all who are laid off, were asked to leave in a period of 2 days. Hence the unrest. However the workforce doesn't buy it. No one dares to voice out their opinion.
heavy pressure into accepting the reduced work program. Almost majority of employees in my vertical had volunteered in the programs but still let go.
Secondly, one partner says the list of employees who got the pink slip, was based on firm's performance along with individual performance. Pure BS. The senior partner/ director says - the list has nothing to do with performance but doesn't give the factors of why that employee was selected.
I know another unlucky person who was laid off even though he had client work for the next few months. Firing him meant kicking away easy cash sitting at your feet. Just doesn't make sense.
CEO of the firm said - we are eating our buffer faster than imagined. This even after 40% of workforce opting for work and salary cuts...
