Is that even legal? Especially in a situation like this?

It is not illegal to not receive severance. All severance really is, money to buy your silence. You can’t be a part of any class action lawsuits. Any lawsuits in general. Even if you know they’ve dumped more oil in the gulf, than sold.
I don't work here but a friend of mine does and I simply couldn't believe it when he told me he was shown the door without any compensation.
