We all know that more layoffs are on the way. Estimate ranges 20-30%. The question that I have is that why not do the lay-off and get it over with in order to take advantage of the enhance unemployment benefits rather then do it in phases?
Any one has an insight into management thinking?

Actually he maybe referring to what I have mentioned since they (the government) started 60 day warn notices I believe Boeing (not always) but most of the time they prefer the people to spend June 1 to July 31 at home it becomes a safety issue. I definitely know it has happened before but haven’t heard they will do that this time
@1dau.... ummmm not sure what you're talking about there fella....it varies by each individual employee, what their severance package looks like, there is no "blanket 2 months pay" for every laid off employee....what the hell you smoking? Otherwise, there's plenty of losers that would be lining up to get "laid off" .....people that were gonna quit anyways etc. Never heard of that one, and I got laid off. They do cash you out for your time (SL/Vac) & pay 1 week for every year of service, but no "2 months of pay on top of everything else", that's just hogwash...
One thing that I liked when I used to work for Boeing was that when they laid you off, they give you 2 months of pay. Most companies give you 2 weeks of pay and a few give you 0 weeks of pay. And these are on top of any additional incentives.
They have to continuously assess the situation.
It’s an insurance policy this way. If the economy unexpectedly rebounds they are not in too bad of shape. In a few months if the economy is still bad they can reevaluate and cut more. And yes the extra pay ends 7/31
- They are getting rid of them anyway. Today, tomorrow, September, does not matter. They still lose the experience. So not a good reason
- They don't give two sh–s about the economy. They care about thier wallets, just like the union leaders. So, nope
- Again, that would require them to care about someone else other than themselves. None of those are the reason
- Boeing Desperately needs to maintain a work force, Start-Up is costly
- Ease as best they can, the Shock to the economy
- Try as best they can, Not To Completely Collapse the Supply Chain
The extra $600 a week ends July 31st unless they pass that new stimulus package
