Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

Where does GED fit?

LC mentioned energy, flight, and healthcare but no mention of GED. Is GED going the way of Lighting?

Great idea. Not so sure how Grid software (ie the largest part of the business) can be used to automate manual manufacturing however...

New CFO literally said to GE Digital CEO to use Digital to automate away industrial BU manual processes.

If serious about lean, should use best in class tools not homegrown sci project. Hard to take seriously reposition GED as an internal tool...then again they are maybe out of $$ to buy tools they need. Co BK still a possibility

The breakup is now more clear, the CEO of GED gets another job as Lean Leader in GE, and GED gets sold or shut down. Maybe back to the scenario with ABB/others elsewhere in the discussion train...

Every day GED falls behind peers, even average competitors - in capabilities and commercial penetration. At some point, the destination does not justify the journey (and accompanying investment)

GE Digital CEO role was just expanded to include Lean and Digital approaches for across GE. The goal is to use Digital to automate away the legacy GE BUs manual processes and take lots of cost out....

Wow stock is on the move and someday will progress into double digits. This stock at one time was "the market". Its unfortunate that as the results of adventures such as those seen in GED (including nonsense power software business) this is a bargain bin stock.

Yes. Out of corporate portfolio or at least no longer reported on or spoken about - 2021

GED is being downsized and will eventually be eliminated as it doesn't contribute to shareholder value.

Yes some combination of internal consolidation and sales of what is saleable, if anytghing and then eventual disappearance of GED (or Data Mgmt or whatever else it can be called). "Larry the eraser"...

If you paid attention during the all hands, you saw that new GED goals and objectives are mimicking those of Fortive: FBS, Kaizen, Attrition.. the writing is on the wall, probably it’s for good.

My assumption is that grid will be sold to ABB or Schneider and PGOG will be sold to a former employer of the new PGOG General manager . If you recall, It was the same story with Oil and Gas back in 2016. When the new GM came from Baker Hughes and one year after GE sold this business unit to Baker.

Because he did not mention does not mean anything. GED unfortunately is on its way out. Probably keep it as a small office for a few years while they transition work to other groups. Some employees might be asked to stay on but need to transfer to different divisions and locations. Recently they asked some healthcare employees to transfer to Chicago from Wisconsin. Good luck to us all we will need it besides nothing we can do about it.
