Just got my proxy in the mail today. It had to be returned by yesterday for my vote to count. I wouldn’t put it past VH and Oxy to have held up delivery of these so people wouldn’t get to vote her a– off the board.

Approximately 27% of small class voters (rank and file employees, minor investors, etc.) vote in these types of elections. Meanwhile, approximately 85% of institutional investors vote. So much of the problem is just related to voter turnout. With ~52% of Oxy's shares owned by institutional investors, it's virtually impossible to win an election opposing an issue when the largest institutions have decided for it, given the poor voter turnout of small class voters. Purely a numbers game, and we don't have the numbers. It's why all companies spend lots of time and energy speaking to the large institutional investors, and don't waste their time speaking with us.
But I still voted, because I still wanted to send a message that I'm not happy with the way things are.
Clearly we have overestimated our value as shareholders
I just do not get it. Icahn must have convinced all the institutional investors that VH is the best option for now. No reasonable investor would actually say that VH is a good CEO, destroying as much value as she has, and ruining the company. But then again, Enron's and AOL's management wasn't voted out either.
What the actual f?
“ Chief Executive Vicki Hollub, who has come under fire for her pursuit of the Anadarko deal, received 91% of shareholder support, up from 78% last year. She received 99.7% in 2018.
Shareholders approved all Occidental board members by an average of 92%, up from 78.4% last year.
But an advisory vote on executive compensation was 76% in favor, down from 88% last year and 96% in 2018. ”
The only little b–ches are the yes b–ches running around s—ing on Vics tits. Oxy is a sinking ship, you’re all going down with your captain.
