I'm not sure we are looking at more layoffs any time soon. Why would UHG wait for the dust to settle on the whole coronavirus thing when everybody and their grandmother are laying people off right now with no consequences (and certainly no media blowback?)
If they were going to have major layoffs, they would have done it by now.
You have forgotten UHG’s lack of ethics and its abundant ruthlessness. This corporate persona = astronomical profits even when client service is sub zero. Great stock investment for anyone interested “tongue in cheek”.
I was an account administrator for aetna and there is absolutely no confidence there.
Everyone looks out for themselves and they do not help you if you need help.
There are layoffs going on there.
I would definitely not seek any work there.

Optum rx just laid off 209 people yesterday under their portion of this site.
Leadership = Culture.... They don’t have leaders at UHG.
I've been working from home for 2 years so the Coronavirus hasn't effected me. Still plenty of back to back calls on member services side. I can't imagine being laid off.

Another reality is claims payments have increased due to Covid. The easiest way for them to balance books for Wall Street is to let the people go now that they were already planning on plus some. For Wall Street they will want to do this before close of second quarter
I think there was supposed to be a layoff but Coronavirus put a bit of a damper on that one. Given that overseas was not set up to WFH. Once they realized this and sent laptops and got people connected from home, they are back in business. It is business as usual and they have a plan they are moving forward with. It can take about a month to determine who to layoff, gather information, put together packages. Each area is given a budget and either they find it via attrition, closing reqs or laying off. They are forced to look at people’s salaries, value, contributions to the business and make decisions to meet expectations of Leadership.
