Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

New Mexico

So Halliburton as pulled out of New Mexico completely. The New Mexico independents is what helped get the Permian basin going, it was a NM independent that started the shale and Bone Springs play. I have been using Halliburton for most of my work for 30 years but it dont seems like we mean anything to the upper Management at Halliburton. Thats ok we will start back up with other independents and we wont be calling them for work but that is ok I dont think they want to service the people that helped them get started in the Permian.

That’s in every State. Halliburton registration for light duty trucks are done for each state that they are in to make the locals happy.

Not a ton of people, but #3 in oil production by state in 2019, behind Texas and North Dakota.

Yeah I can't imagine using foreigners in such an advanced state as new Mexico.
After all lefty loosey eighty tightly technology doesn't transfer over when you cross state lines. By the way is there still only one area code?

I worked for Halliburton for a long time in NM. There are a lot of customers there who do not want people or equipment that comes out of Texas. They would rather use another service company with local shops and people. I've heard the argument about how easy it is to service out of Odessa, but the customers often have different priorities.

Who cares about New Mexico?

So reading this post is a bit confusing.

  1. This post is apparently from the perspective of a New Mexico independent operator, who is salty about Halliburton closing some satellite facilities in NM and for some reason posting it on a Halliburton lay-off message board...?
  2. Closing facilities in New Mexico doesn’t mean there isn’t service in New Mexico. It means the cement trucks drove an extra ~60 miles to get there. Besides some small additional lead time, it doesn’t impact operators when there are less than 150 rigs total in the area.
