Thread regarding Ricoh layoffs

Not enough volunteers?

Really? More layoffs? Ricoh was not able to find enough volunteers with the last offer? I call bulshit on that. What I'm guessing happened was that either the wrong people accepted the offer, or the plan was always to get rid of many more people than originally indicated.

Either way, we are once again reminded that our jobs here are never safe.

They are making cuts based on salary and age. Doesn't matter if your peer is a low performer as long as they cost less. Very short sided approach. Hence the reason they can't quantify who goes and who stays to their employees. In reality they know but can't share as it would result in lawsuits. They simply say its a mix of metrics and performance reviews. Its apparent that is not the case.

Were these cut backs discussed in the two hour speech the CEO was supposed to have given last week online? I missed the speech. I am out on furlough this week of the 20th - 26th. I guess I should prepare myself for any news Monday once everyone is back at work. I know even with furloughs, people still are not getting 8 hrs worth of work some days. I can easily see more layoffs coming later on. Just not looking good right now especially with Covid-19 affecting businesses.

This industry has been going down slowly, year after year. COVID 19 just exasperated it. Don't see any future here.

3bkx+15ZDKssB, the reason that they let you go was to save cash, period. The bottom line is what counts to them. I suspect that they want out of service anyway. Covid is just speeding things up. Nobody should feel the need to be loyal to Ricoh, they won't reciprocate.

I am so glad I took the latest VSIP. I’m pretty sure if I hadn’t then I would be one that would be canned this time around. All techs should be seriously looking at their future in this industry. With COVID 19, companies are going to be on life support with either going out of business or bought out by others. Then even more people will be let go.

Can confirm about layoffs. Received a email to attend a conference call at 4. That’s how we were informed, by a conference call where no questions were allowed. Later I find out I was cut based on the company’s needs. Though I have over 3 comptia certs I was released while people with less training, less certs and less seniority still have a job. Also I’m a veteran, which according to ricohs own web site, they go out of their way to hire. Makes you wonder how cuts are being done.

Well, wish I had waited until today to look on here. I could have been blissfully ignorant over the weekend and enjoyed it. Can confirm the layoffs are happening. F**k! Maybe the enhanced unemployment will get extended. Not seeing much in our relm of work hiring.

I wonder if we will ever get a true total count as to how many are being let go? They have let so many people go in the last few years. How can they keep up with the SLAs if more and more people are gone?

Many technicians and Service Managers nationwide were told on Wednesday their jobs will be ending in 30 days. Nothing was mentioned regarding it the next day during company wide conference call meeting.

Was this announced on Friday? Out this week. Anymore details that can be posted? Maybe I should just try to enjoy the next 24 hours and wait till Monday but now I'm curious.

Is this what they meant with "embrace change"? Change career I'm guessing.

I agree with you. And why all the secrecy with all this? No official word on who is being let go. So now who knows who works here and who doesn't. Looks like it's time to get out and do something else.
