Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Disney values

So, corporate offices are still closed for health safety reasons but we have to go to back to work and interact with thousands of people each day, majority of who couldn't care less if they are positive or not and if they are infecting us? Good to know how valuable our lives are to this company. True Disney values right there.

I work for WDW as well. They have made it beyond clear that all employees are expendable. My manager in a more candid moment even essentially said exactly that. All the pixie dusters that work there will never get it. They are the people Disney could hit repeatedly with a piece of wood and they would justify a reason why it was for their good. I’m already looking for much better opportunities and finishing my degree so I can get out of that sweat shop as soon as possible. The company has changed A LOT in the last 10 years and has zero respect for their cast members anymore.

One other fact, THERE ARE cast members getting sick with Covid and Disney is doing everything to cover it up from the public and media. I know a couple of them and I’ve heard about many others getting sick already. They are such a dishonest and corrupt company now. So sad

Many Walt Disney World salaried Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR and Technology are still furloughed, and considering they’ve done without us for 14 weeks we will likely be laid off permanently. Hopefully they make that decision soon because without the extra $600 our unemployment drops to $6.87/hr.

Disney is in survival mode. If they close again for any longer I would expect massive layoffs, at which point you wouldn't have a job anyway. Whether or not having a job or being on unemployment is better depends on whether or not the unemployment $600 benefit is extended. If it is not renewed, then having a job is better than not having a job, and in the upcoming job market, jobs will be scarce. I think all of us working jobs are scared, but if you feel like the health risk isn't worth it, then you should quit.
Back to your original point though, corporate employees are probably getting preferential treatment. The longer this drags on and disney needs to save money, you will see them getting laid off, as you can save more money by cutting expensive corporate salaries.

You don't have to go back if you feel so strongly about it.
