Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears Hometowns

The sad fact is that no one actually knows how many are left. All paper work involving franchisees has been passed down multiple times like a game of telephone, no one knows which tracking files are current, staff has turned over like no one's business, been let go, left on their own, and on top it off, coronavirus came along and hardly anyone was on top of what was happening with franchise agreements as non-renewals continued to filter in. All people can do is do just enough to keep their heads above water, and no one actually cares enough to track it because it doesn't actually matter.

Hometowns are getting their clocks cleaned by
Co-ops. The Leadership that is operating out of a garage are 4th level left-overs from full line. Hard to believe the full liners are still there. That speaks to the loser ship mentality of the EL crew. All of the previous successful leadership has moved to the competition. And raping Sears share now... because they hate Eddie. And it’s a pleasure. Sears Appliance dealership of 1993 was a glorious cottage business. Those owners, well vetted, were paid a fair share and grew into a tremendous buying machine that helped produce the best margins to elevate buying power. Now... owners leave a one sided contract after operating years in their communities. Coaches, helping in churches, volunteering at hospitals, all the time building good Will! Good Will that cant be reproduced by stealing the store and putting in just corporate employees. The communities are smart and won’t shop at stolen stores.

I don’t know where you are getting your information, but you couldn’t be more wrong. “Owners” are simply elevated employees. Told what to do, non negotiable contracts, and ever changing commissions and bonuses. It’s a farce! There are simply are NO owners, the company takes more than their fair share of income and leaves the owners spending their own money to keep operating until the contract is up OR until they are financially ruined. And, Eddie doesn’t t give a SH*T! Eddie is such a sad example of a man.

Owning a hometown is like having a license to print money. No one fails to renew - ever.

Because Eddie is a greedy and selfish man who only cares about himself. Probably holding onto the remaining spaces hoping these towns will buy out of the property just to get rid of the name/it’s horrible reputation!

Contract renewals were up for about 100 or so stores on July 4. Most did not renew and Sears decided to keep these stores, operate them at a much higher cost and for what reason? If the “owner” can’t make it, why does Sears believe they can put in temp workers who don’t care and make it successful? Nothing Sears does makes any sense. But I’m sure Eddie has a motive that benefits him.

Sears.com/stores.html and SearsHometownStores.com/store-list don't entirely agree with each other, but both show about 313 stores.

You just totally made this up. It's not 1970 with a paper file for each location they have a system which has the details of each location and the details of the contracts. People post some BS here.
