Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Have there been any layoffs today?

So far nothing here, but I've heard they were not done yet so I'd lie if I said I wasn't worried.

I know that one guy in our group has been WFR'd and I'm guessing there is more to come as a lot of my team (point next) has been sitting on the bench. Hopefully it won't be a blood bath.

Brilliant response. Poster that stated if you feel you are not contributing they will find out.
You have to motivate yourself.

I’m getting let go this Friday... It’s funny because I have cyber training due in 15 days.

As far as the next round of layoffs, I don’t know anything about that.

If you feel paranoid, it likely indicates that you feel like you’re not doing enough for the company, which isn’t entirely your fault due to covid. I felt this way after our Q2 earnings report. Work has drastically slowed down.

Your performance and activity is monitored heavily now more than ever. Before covid, you could do nothing for a week and no one would really notice.

So if you feel like you haven’t been able to contribute a lot to the company lately, it is reasonable to be paranoid. When I’m talking about contribution, I’m talking about working with customers or program managing the heck out of manufacturing on a daily basis (for engineering). The company is currently looking for those who are creating strategies for generating short term revenue. HPE is currently in survival mode during covid. Your BU’s performance is also extremely relevant to relaxed your group will be about layoffs.

The fact that you haven’t been told anything about layoffs from your manager at this point indicates that you’re hanging in there for now. Thousands of people are already getting let go... and you haven’t heard anything yet. But I predict that there’s more to come. Conditions will be more strict during these rounds of layoffs.

So ask yourself: “What am I doing to help make our company make money as we speak?” If your answer is nothing or something like it could help, then that won’t be a good answer.
