Thread regarding Sikorsky Aircraft layoffs

Sikorsky Paradox

sikorsky is always hiring as they are always terminating.

they even hire while doing lay-offs.

it doesn't mean anything.

LM always had plans to make the corp a skeleton crew for military based aircraft.

once they fulfill their commercial contracts you can bet it will be the end of their commercial relationships.

the people in charge of those decisions are not reconsidering on a day to day basis from a factory worker's perspective.

corps make action plans that get voted to projects and objectives by multiple people on a board.

when a plan is in action they may have meetings to update the board but barely reconsider as finacial planning is already set in action and it costs more money to change the coarse.

UTC sold the company because their analysts foresaw the future revenue was not good for them.

UTC put clauses into their selling contract to employ and honor contracts for 5 years so that UTC would not look like a bad guy.

the name is worth more to LM than their products as they do what other big corps do and buy out their competition.

LM won't need many factories to run and support 3 lines for military.

with the failed project x, there is no new innovations from the small brand that LM owns.

without inovation, there is no new revenue and no growth.

ask the 20-30 year lifers because they saw this coming.

the new blood is mostly naive and still in the honeymoon faze.

we are in a new era of combat, and while the military might still use 60s, they are being used less and less.

LM hiring practices are a joke!! Ask anyone that has applied thete. For starters their HR staff from head to toe lack any bit of professionalism… secondly they have a culture of systemic discriminatory practices… was jerked around z(like many) by the HR dept being called back over and over only to come up empty..,,guess that’s what happens when the company is being run by the parent company hundreds of miles away!!

Sikorsky commercial helicopters just are not selling. S76D is too small for the current market. S92 is not selling, because the 100 or so used for North Sea oil exploration will last nearly forever. LM would fund a new commercial helicopter if a business case can be made. LM purchased Sikorsky based solely on the value of the 53K program. Sikorsky needs to win either FARA or FLRAA to remain a major player.

The golden era of helicopter sales from 2002 to 2020 is ending, as the wars wind down. I worked the last 12 years of my career at Sikorsky, 10 with UTC and 2 with LM. I am very sorry if LM is practicing age discrimination, I made it to 66 and retired.
