Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Mid year reviews

These mid year reviews should be interesting - considering that your manager has no idea what is happening with the reorganization, and does not even know if he/she will have a job. This whole process is such a joke - “behind the curtain” and secret. How does BP leadership expect to build trust? The people who land a job and stay with BP will not be grateful; they will be suspicious. BP will not be able to have any real employee engagement for YEARS.

Sociopaths and psychopaths are incapable of understanding empathy, or any other emotions that are related to caring and taking responsibility for others concerns or worries.
The way neurons are wired (connected) in their brains, means that they will never experience these emotions, so cannot respond to them in the same way that the vast majority of the human race does.

Throughout their lives, those with higher IQs, learn that they can manipulate others more efficiently if they are seen to demonstrate these emotions.
Over time, they develop skills that imitate and then perfect the act\pretense of exhibiting empathy, care, concern for others etc....

Whence they are promoted to powerful roles within an organisation, they very quickly strengthen their positions through a number of strategies, fear through shrouded threats usually being the most prevalent and preferred method.
The only people that can compete, or even survive, in this type of environment are like minded individuals. Thereby, the organisations duty of care to its employees is quickly polluted, albeit under a veil of pretense.

Donating large sums of money to mental health charities and encouraging staff to use an employees mental health support facility needs to be viewed with caution.
These employee mental health schemes are being promoted by some of the worlds most powerful, and certainly ruthless, business leaders.
All part of the act, one would be forgiven for thinking.

There are always fantastic opportunities available to us, we just don't see them until forced to look. Don't worry about getting laid off from this company. I would certainly advocate volunteering to go. There are many businesses out there that truly value their staff. Beyond Psychopaths indeed.......

So true! During my mid-year review, my boss told me I’ve done a great job and she doesn’t know what happens next. I told her she has been a good boss and I would love to continue being employed. The truth is the decision has already been made to determine both of our futures by someone in a much higher pay grade - who doesn’t know either of us. 😂

This is a rather pointless exercise. Because none of the parties involved in this conversation wishes to really address the elephant in the room. The productivity of the entire population there is about zero. Time will be slowed as everyone's trying to predict what will happen to them.
