Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Apple Vs Juniper

Apple's market cap is 1.6T where is JNPR is 7.5B. Around 13 years back, it used to 100B or so and JNPR is 10B. Now, all the big guys who are stuck ar Juniper for 20+ years must think why JNPR is doing so bad.

My suggestion for Juniper is to close all its Routing/Switching/Firewall and SDN products. They must create a new smartphone name Jphone which competes with iPhone and recreates JunOS as "jos" which competes with "ios" and "Android".

Or, they could find nitwits who believe JNPR will soar big time, and sell to them. Sadly these folks are hard to find elsewhere. And we don't have enough of these on this forum to pump the ticker price.

Why Juniper is hiring CTOs who can't turn around?

Only if the new iPhones have really good range and work underground!

Silly! But you’re right in that Apple took risks and have reaped the rewards. Juniper is an extremely risk averse company these days, and unwilling or unable to invest in disruption of the industry or of themselves. The last truly innovative thing Juniper built was the first Trio asic for the MX. Since then it’s been a slow erosion. No amount of Google transplants or Cisco has-beens will bring back the passion and magic of Juniper of yore. Time to hang it up, sell the Sunnyvale real estate, and return the cash as a special dividend to the shareholders.
