Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

Layoffs

Hold on tight. More coming before end of quarter. Probably more the next quarter as well. Don't know the numbers right now or the dates. The ship is sinking, folks.

Right it is a fantasy to assume that anything other than a bare bones infrastructure, management overhead, etc is appropriate here. It needs to be stripped down to the start up that it is, TV commercials put aside (ie kid telling his parents he is going to GE to "program machines").

It simply goes back to centralizing in SR and closing everything else, plus outsourcing

Not sure if the power SW people affected will be in USA. Not likely to be any USA sites shut down, rather trimming from multiple locations? Would be more difficult in Europe offices, especially France.

Likely majority is power. And yes, no one cares. Perhaps a few customers. Isnt most of the power SW really Ahlstom developed anyway?

Agree @1scw. Engineering team is still nowhere near lean or agile, and anything serving Fossil Fuel based industries is terminally declining.

What product line is affected ? If it’s power - no one really cares.
