The company has gone from bad to worse and most of the people I liked that made this place bearable are now gone. I'll have to stick it out until I can find a new job, but as soon as I do I'm out of here. At my age it won't be easy, but I believe anything will be better than staying here.

If the severance was awesome it’s because you were there for many years.
Getting laid off was great. At first I was hurt, but then I saw the list of others and realized they literally did it based on projects being cancelled. The severance was awesome.
Your "Hope" may come true in 6 or 12 months, unfortunately. Layoff becomes a routine or chronic disease every year. This buys you sometime to networking, preparing for interviews. Good luck.
I hear you! I know a couple of friends who lost 30-40% of the small teams they were part of. A significant loss of some of their "get through the day together" work friends. Sad.
