Thread regarding Dril-Quip Inc. layoffs

Machine shop management and supervision

Does anyone from other departments know how badly machinists are treated by the mob ? Does anyone else see what happens ?

It’s been said that they are the butt of the jokes amongst other managers, for being so useless .

The difference between the current boss and the "next table" up is that the old boss knew exactly what he was talking about and had the skills to back it up unlike the shower we have now.

Your old boss and new both were both entry level management- they are only puppets and will always fall inline albeit one would have put up some resistance. No matter old or new the outcome would always have been the same.
And the reason he left was he thought he should have had a seat the next table up- but we all know that was no place for him

Because in usual DQ fashion they kept shafting him.

Blame can’t be put on them for the way business has gone but it can be for the low moral and the reason no one cares about efficiency quality and so forth . They have destroyed the men which will have negative affect. The old boss would not have allowed half of the rubbish to go ahead in the machine shop. He fought for his men

I am sensing the machine shop guys would not "take the knee" for Dril - Quip ?

M/C shop is taking a big hit but so are all other departments. We are all asking why just now and looking for something or someone to blame, but the reality is that this is happening and there is no single event or person who is to blame. Good employees will be lost and some poor employees will slip through the net. Plan for the worst and hope for the best. Nothing will be gained by all your internal fighting bar making yourselves even more upset so why waste your energy on it.

He undermined the old boss because he had an agenda to get his job.

The other ones the same, although more sly about it . The most devious though is at the top. The king cobra

The same person used to spend 4 hours every night shift sticking it to other operators but still managed to have over 130% efficiency.

Who are you talking about? Does one wear a school uniform and the other likes to take photos with his phone? The same phone he uses to slag people off on here?

They always have poked their beaks in to other departments. Of late the grewsome twosome have been sticking it to inspection as they have it in for a certain person.

A certain supervisor had the audacity to ask his old boss for a job after he went about sticking the knife in to him to other machinists saying it was his fault the shop was in the state it is.

Totally agree, never a truer word spoken. I wonder if other departments know how they get fu**ed over by them.

The WHOLE of the supervisory team have turned that place in to the way it is. The shoulder of blame stands strongly at all their doors.

The machinists don't want anything to do with the machine shop either.

No but we hear how much a bunch of moaning b@tches the machinists are.
No wonder other departments want nothing to do with the machine shop in the redundancy process. At least the welders stick together....
