A&E did nothing for Roebuck when they first got it, other than some customer lists. Most of the techs that came with that exchange were parts changers or old guys getting ready to retire.
It didn't really turn into the cluster until the Kmart merger. In fact, that's when almost everything connected to Sears really took a serious turn for the worse.
Sears had problems of their own, but the merge brought the beginning of the end.

it ws given to them free with money out of bankruptcy to fulfill the services due to customers who had bought extended warranties. Downhill ever after near worthless now.

I wonder how much Sears paid for A&E when Montgomery Wards owned it back in 2001.
